On top of the mountain, a shepherd witnesses the world. Silent and contemplative, he has time to reflect on life, to look at the stars, and to think of God. He is far away from the fast pace living of the people below. I always enjoy climbing a mountain to feel the peace and quiet at the top. During my childhood in the south of France, I used to enjoy seeing the shepherds walking to the mountain pastures. I would pet the sheep and imagine how wonderful the life of a shepherd was.
