I created this painting at a special time of loss in my life to honor the connection between the self and the spiritual world. I was inspired to portray Saraswati, the deity of knowledge and wisdom in Hindu mythology. Her name means the essence of the self.  She symbolizes the creative power and is carried by a white swan, symbol of discernment. I have depicted her holding a purple heart which represents spiritual awareness.
